YouTube Shopping sees 500% surge in Vietnam after one year

HCMC – YouTube has reported robust growth for its shopping feature in Vietnam, with shopping-related watch time soaring more than 500% just one year after launch.

At the YouTube Shopping Accelerator event in HCMC, the platform said over 55% of eligible local creators had joined its affiliate program to diversify revenue sources and strengthen ties with their audiences.

The partnership between YouTube and Shopee has also gained traction, generating millions of videos and tagging more than 2.4 million products on the e-commerce platform. Sarah Nguyen, marketing and growth director of Shopee Vietnam, described the collaboration as a way to “bridge the gap between content and commerce.”

YouTube has rolled out several new features to enhance content-driven shopping, including Product Stickers on Shorts, Timestamps, and a Chrome Extension that allows creators to save products and deals for later use.

Mukpim Anantachai, head of YouTube Partnerships for Vietnam and Thailand, said the platform aims to establish YouTube as “the most impactful platform for creative commerce,” adding that the company will continue to invest in Vietnam’s digital economy.
