Local supermodel/actress Thanh Hang shows off a creation in the latest collection named “Safari” by local designer Le Thanh Hoa at the closing ceremony of the Vietnam International Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2017 (VIFW), which was held at Gem Center in HCMC’s District 1 last Friday. The collection takes its inspirations from the tropical jungles and sandy deserts where people can experience wilderness and freedom. Hoa’s new collection brings a fresh air to fashion enthusiasts at the prestigious fashion event. Le Thanh Hoa, a graduate from the HCMC University of Architecture, has won first prize of the Aquafina Pure Fashion contest in 2009. The fashion week, which wrapped up on April 28, featured 20 shows by local and foreign fashion designers including Xuan Haute Couture from France, Betty Tran from Australia, João Rolo from Portugal, Boys of Bangkok from Thailand, Tata Christiane from Germany, and leading Vietnamese designers like Nguyen Cong Tri, Chung Thanh Phong, Do Long and Le Thanh Hoa. British composer Michael Price to visit Vietnam

Fashion Week opens in town

The ceremony was attended by singer/actor Minh Hang, young talented designer Chung Thanh Phong, singer Gil Le, actress/model Chi Pu, and actress/fashion designer Midu. In addition, fashionista and international guests wishing to show their best styles were present at the opening ceremony. Especially, Xuan-Thu Nguyen, a Dutch-Vietnamese designer and owner of design house Xuan in French capital Paris, young Vietnamese designer Chung Thanh Phong, and foreign designer Betty Tran from Australia also unveiled their latest fashion collections to fashion enthusiasts and interested audiences on the first night of the event. FameLab Vietnam 2017 winner named

Classic Strindberg drama in Saigon

Strindberg’s Miss Julie is a classic drama now 130 years old. Set in Strindberg’s native Sweden, the play depicts an affair between an intelligent servant, Jean, and Julie, the daughter of the man he works for. The only other character in the original is a female cook, Kirsten, who Jean is nominally engaged to.
