Vietnam and Mexico celebrated 50 years of diplomatic ties in May. This milestone is especially meaningful for Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi because the hotel was once home to Mexico’s first Embassy in Vietnam, from 1976 until the early 1980s.

The hotel unveiled a commemorative plaque honoring the former embassy, which was located in Room 215. The event was part of a broader cultural diplomacy effort by the Mexican Embassy and its partners to strengthen friendship and mutual understanding with Vietnam.

The 124-year-old luxury heritage hotel also celebrated this legacy with the return of the “Mexican Culinary Fiesta” from May 16 to June 15 at the hotel’s cocktail bar, whisky lounge, and restaurant angelina.

Following its successful inaugural edition last year, this vibrant culinary journey hailed the rich flavors and longstanding heritage of Mexican cuisine, recognized by UNESCO as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”

This year at angelina, the festivities spotlighted a curated menu celebrating Mexico’s rich culinary heritage. Complementing the cuisine, Metropole Hanoi’s expert mixologists crafted a bespoke cocktail selection featuring the finest tequila.
