HCMC – In the lead up to the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet), the railway sector is offering 176,046 seats, with ticket prices increasing 4.5% over the same period last year.

On October 25, the Saigon Railway Joint Stock Company (SRT) opened its ticket sale for Tet 2023 at railway stations, via ticket agents and on the railway app.

According to Thai Van Truyen, general director of SRT, in the morning, the system recorded over 21,000 successfully-booked tickets, accounting for 12% of the available seats. Of these, 10,247 tickets were paid for and 9,339 tickets were booked by groups.

This year, the railway sector is scheduled to have 356 incoming and outgoing trains, offering 176,046 seats, an increase of 67,000 seats compared to Tet 2022.

Due to the impact of the rising fuel prices, the train tickets for Tet 2023 will increase from 1% to 6 % over the previous year.
