29 people in HCMC expelled from Party for violations in four cases

HCMC – The Standing Board and the Inspection Commission of the HCMC Party Committee have expelled 29 former and incumbent executives and employees of corporations and officials of departments and agencies in the city from the Party due to their involvement in four corruption cases.

On October 6, the Inspection Commission announced disciplinary measures against Party members involved in the four cases under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, the local media reported.

In the case at Saigon Agriculture Incorporated (Sagri), nine people were expelled from the Party, including Van Trong Dung, former deputy secretary of the Party Committee and former chairman of Sagri; Ho Van Ngon, former Sagri deputy general director; Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, former director of human resources and administration at Sagri; Nguyen Thi Thuy, former Sagri chief accountant; and Phan Truong Son, former deputy director of the municipal Department of Planning and Architecture.

In the case at Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Company (IPC) and the South Saigon Development JSC (SADECO), 11 Party members were subject to the expulsion, including Le Hoang Minh, chairman of IPC’s member council; SADECO general director Ho Thi Thanh Phuc; and former IPC deputy general director Phung Duc Tri.

Meanwhile, eight Party members involved in the case at Tan Thuan Construction and Investment Co. Ltd faced the expulsion, including Nguyen Van Minh, ex-chairman of the company’s member council; Tran Tan Hai, former deputy general director of the company; Pham Van Thong, former deputy head of the HCMC Party Committee’s office; and Huynh Phuoc Long, former head of the committee’s capital investment and business management division.

In the case of violating the regulations on the management of a land lot at 8-12 Le Duan Street in District 1, the Inspection Commission expelled Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, former director of HCMC House Trade Management Co., Ltd. She was found to have signed documents proposing the municipal government approve investments and land transfers without price appraisals, violating the regulations on the State capital and asset management, land management and corruption and wastefulness prevention and control.
