50 more Covid-19 infections confirmed

HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 50 new Covid-19 cases this afternoon, June 2, including 48 domestic infections recorded in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Danang.

Among them, 35 in Bac Giang and 12 in Bac Ninh came from industrial zones, while one in Danang came into close contact with a previously confirmed coronavirus patient.

Two imported cases were quarantined upon their arrival in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, the ministry added.

With the latest infections, the nation’s tally has reached 7,675 cases, with 6,166 locally infected.

This morning, the HCMC Center for Disease Control (HCDC) reported 23 additional suspected cases of Covid-19, with 18 linked to the Revival Ekklesia Mission infection cluster in Go Vap District. HCDC is tracing the source of transmission of the five other cases.

Of the 23 new suspected cases, seven reside in Go Vap District, six in Binh Thanh District, two in Tan Binh District, three in District 12, while Thu Duc City, District 8, Binh Tan and Binh Chanh districts have one case each. HCDC was verifying the remaining case’s personal information.

In another development, 84 Covid-19 patients including a pregnant woman in the country are in critical condition, according to data of the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.

A quick response team of the HCMC-based Cho Ray Hospital yesterday put two Covid-19 patients in Bac Giang, which is now the biggest coronavirus hotspot in the country, on ECMO support. One of them is a woman at 22 weeks pregnant that suffered from respiratory failure, hypotension, and had to receive oxygen therapy on the day.
