HCMC – The government of HCMC has permitted non-essential services, except for bars, discos and karaoke parlors, to resume operations starting March 9, as the city has brought the Covid-19 pandemic under control.
The services allowed to reopen must ensure full compliance with Covid-19 safety protocols.
The municipal government asked heads of departments, agencies, districts and the authorities of Thu Duc City to stay alert over the possibility of new coronavirus outbreaks and to continue to take anti-epidemic measures including wearing masks when going out or in public areas, washing hands regularly and maintaining a safe physical distance from each other.
Earlier, the HCMC chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong on February 8 ordered all non-essential services such as bars, discos, gyms, cinemas, massage and karaoke parlors, sporting centers and wedding venues, religious events and activities gathering 20 people or more to suspend operations, due to the resurgence of the coronavirus in the city.
On February 25, the city’s government announced that some non-essential services could reopen, while bars, discos, pubs, beer clubs, karaoke parlors and sports centers operating in closed spaces had to remain shut until further notice. Further, religious events could resume but mass gatherings of more than 50 people at a time were to be avoided and they had to practice Covid-19 safety measures.
