HCMC – Vietnamese travelers are choosing coastal destinations for their vacations, with the central city of Danang being the most searched destination this summer, followed by Hoi An and Dalat, according to Booking.com.

Booking.com, one of the world’s leading online travel companies, has released its latest search data trends that shed light on Vietnamese travelers’ preferred destinations for this summer.

With more travel restrictions being lifted and the world opening up again, this summer marks a promising return of travel for Vietnamese travelers who are ready to get back out there and make the most of their summer holidays. The latest data highlights that many destinations are seeing even stronger interest versus the 2019 pre-pandemic levels.

According to Booking.com, with 3,260 kilometers of coastline, crystal-clear waters and instagram-worthy destinations, it is no surprise that beach destinations across the country dominate the top 10 domestic search list.

Coastal and island getaways have always been the go-to destinations for local travelers looking to escape the scorching city heat, take part in watersports and activities or bask in the comfort and hospitality of beachside properties.

Besides the three most sought-after destinations mentioned above, the island city of Phu Quoc, which is off the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, came in third place. Nha Trang in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa ranked fourth, followed by Vung Tau, Ha Long and Quy Nhon.

As for the top 15 domestic and international destinations searched by Vietnamese travelers, Singapore and Bangkok are the most searched international destinations this summer.

The popularity of Singapore and Bangkok could be attributed to the fact that Vietnamese travelers are exempted from visas when visiting both these destinations and they have also recently lifted the travel pass requirement for fully-vaccinated travelers.

According to Booking.com’s Travel Confidence Index 2022, 45% of Vietnamese travelers plan to take regional trips (of up to eight hours of travel time) to popular holiday destinations close to Vietnam, and Singapore and Bangkok fall in this category.
