HCMC – A Korean Air flight transporting 141 passengers from Korea’s Incheon Airport landed at Lien Khuong International Airport in Lam Dong Province on the night of July 23, marking the resumption of international air services to this Central Highlands province after over two years of suspension due to Covid.

These passengers will travel to Dalat, a favorite tourist destination in Lam Dong, and stay there for five days and four nights, joining a golf and sightseeing tour in the hilly resort city.

More charter flights are scheduled to send tourists to Dalat from now until the end of the year.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, over 30 international airlines and four domestic carriers, namely Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, and Pacific Airlines, are operating 96 air routes between Vietnam and destinations in 21 countries and territories. Among them, local airlines are offering services on 68 international routes linking with 16 nations and regions.

These international and domestic carriers are preparing to add more flights, reopen suspended services and open new routes to and from Vietnam.

Vietnam’s Vietjet Air and Vietnam Airlines and India’s IndiGo and Spice Jet recently resumed air links between the two countries.

Low-cost carrier Vietjet was licensed to launch over 20 new routes linking Vietnam’s big cities and tourist attractions, HCMC, Hanoi, Danang and Phu Quoc with new Indian destinations including Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Besides, Vietjet increased its flight frequency to Mumbai and Delhi starting this month.

Similarly, the number of flights on the Seoul-Hanoi/HCMC routes has been increased, adding that other services between Vietnam and South Korea have been resumed since last month.

Also, Vietjet this month launched three new routes from Hanoi, Danang, and Nha Trang to Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur.

As for China, the Vietnamese aviation authority is working with its Chinese counterpart to gradually reopen flights connecting the two countries. Currently, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines is operating two weekly flights to and from China.
