HCMC – One million doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine that Japan presents to Vietnam will be delivered in two batches which will arrive in Vietnam today and on July 8, according to the Ministry of Health.
The donation was announced by Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on June 25, the local media reported.
Together with nearly one million doses which arrived in Vietnam on June 16, Japan has donated nearly two million Covid-19 vaccine doses to Vietnam.
According to the Ministry of Health, the donation of the Japanese Government and people was extremely prompt, contributing to helping Vietnam combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
As of June 29, Vietnam has received some 4.3 million Covid-19 vaccine doses and used over 3.5 million doses.
In July, besides one million doses from Japan, the country will receive 1.6 million doses provided by the Covax Facility and a batch from Pfizer.
Vietnam has set a target to vaccinate at least 70% of its population against Covid-19 by the first half of next year at the latest.
