HCMC establishes 25 special teams to fight Covid-19

Must read

HCMC – The HCMC government on June 29 set up 22 special teams to combat the Covid-19 pandemic in Thu Duc City and 21 districts and three others in industrial and export processing zones, the Saigon Hi-tech Park and the Quang Trung Software City.

Specifically, 22 teams supporting Thu Duc City and districts are led by the representative of the municipal Department of Health, according to the local media.

Members of these teams are representatives of the municipal Department of Health, the Center for Disease Control and the Communist Youth Union as well as students of medical schools in the city.

The special teams were established amid the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases in the city despite social distancing measures, including many cases whose sources of infection remain unknown.

Over the past two weeks, HCMC has accounted for the majority of the country’s new Covid-19 cases.

At recent meetings of the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control, many officials said the Delta variant was more transmissible, resulting in the surge in Covid-19 cases. The city’s Covid-19 tally is forecast to continue surging in the coming days.

The city has employed many anti-virus solutions, including a campaign to take samples from over five million people in Thu Duc City and districts from June 26 to July 5.
