Of the total, 122 cases were found at quarantine centers and in areas under lockdown.

Meanwhile, the four imported cases were detected in Khanh Hoa Province.

The new cases sent the country’s Covid-19 tally to 17,727, including 14,335 cases detected in the latest wave, which began on April 27. As many as 4,473 patients have recovered from the disease.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long yesterday established teams to support the fight against Covid-19 in Phu Yen and Tien Giang provinces.

The team to Phu Yen includes 18 members led by Do Thai Hung, director of the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute.

The team will help take samples, conduct Covid-19 tests, support the treatment, and provide safety instructions at quarantine facilities, industrial parks, schools and public places.

Phu Yen has established two field hospitals with a total of 300 beds to treat Covid-19 patients.

Provincial chairman Tran Huu The said thanks to the Nha Trang Pasteur Institute’s support, the province had had machines and equipment to increase its testing capacity to 8,000-10,000 samples per day.

However, the tracing and sample collection remain slow due to the lack of medical workers. In addition, the province is in dire need of doctors for the treatment of Covid-19 patients as the number of Covid-19 cases has risen and may continue increasing in the coming days, The added.

Meanwhile, the team to Tien Giang has six members led by Nguyen Vu Thuong, deputy director of the HCMC Pasteur Institute.

On July 1, Tien Giang Chairman Nguyen Van Vinh signed a document on the enhancement of anti-pandemic measures in the province, requiring people arriving in Tien Giang from July 1 to show a negative Covid-19 test result conducted within three days ahead of arrival.

The Binh Phuoc steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control has also issued the same requirement for those entering the province from 6 a.m. on July 2. Specifically, they must have a negative Covid-19 test result within the five latest days. If not, they must undergo quick tests and pay the testing fees.
