HCMC – Spectre, a Danish firm specializing in outdoor sports garments, on September 30 inaugurated a factory in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, its first in the province but its third in Vietnam.
The Spectre An Giang – Vietnam factory, with a total cost of some US$17 million, is expected to create 2,500 jobs.
The facility was built following high corporate social responsibility standards and granted the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design gold certification. With solar energy and advanced design features, the factory can reduce around 1,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the factory, Ambassador of Denmark in Vietnam Nicolai Prytz said, “I am pleased to attend the opening of Spectre’s new factory here in An Giang today, which is another strong testament to the increasing Danish investments in Vietnam. It also shows how important the Government of Vietnam’s strong commitment to carbon reduction is to attract quality investments in Vietnam.”
Jesper Klausen, co-owner of Spectre, said, “Spectre is very proud of our latest investment in An Giang, Vietnam. We are happy to contribute to the local community by establishing a factory reaching new standards in terms of a working environment and caring for the external environment.”
Denmark is among the biggest European investors in Vietnam. With the upcoming visit of the Royal Crown Couple of Denmark and a delegation of 36 Danish companies in early November, it is expected that more Danish investment deals, especially in the energy sector, will be finalized in the coming years.
