HCMC – HCMC has opened a new night food street, Nguyen Thuong Hien, which was officially put into operation on December 21.
The street was opened to create employment for people after the Covid-19 pandemic and boost domestic and international visitor arrivals to HCMC.
The street extends 368 meters and is located in District 3, with 148 food stalls. Every night from 19:00 to 23:00, the street is open to visitors, with no automobiles permitted to enter.
Deputy chairwoman of the District 3 People’s Committee Pham Thuy Hang said that Nguyen Thuong Hien has long been home to fast food and takeaway food businesses. The opening of the new food street would enhance the catering business and spur sustainable development, she said.
The committee reaffirmed creating a favorable environment for food sellers and plans to expand its scale until June 2023.
In 2019, Time Out Magazine, a global magazine published by the Time Out Group, ranked this street as one of the world’s top 20 worth-living streets.
