HCMC – National Assembly deputies this afternoon overwhelmingly voted for a resolution approving the prime minister’s proposal to appoint Tran Hong Ha and Tran Luu Quang as new deputy prime ministers, replacing Pham Binh Minh and Vu Duc Dam.
Before the vote, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the National Assembly to approve his request to pick Tran Hong Ha, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and Tran Luu Quang, Party Secretary of Haiphong City, as deputy PMs.
The PM earlier proposed removing Pham Binh Minh and Vu Duc Dam from the post of deputy prime minister in the 2021-2026 tenure. The 13th Party Central Committee, at an extraordinary meeting on December 30, voted for the release of Pham Binh Minh, a 64-year-old native of Nam Dinh Province, from the Politburo and the Party Central Committee, and of Vu Duc Dam, a 59-year-old native of Hai Duong Province, from the Party Central Committee.
Nguyen Thi Thanh, head of the National Assembly Deputies Affairs Committee, also read a request of the NA Standing Committee for revoking the status of Pham Binh Minh and Le Minh Chuan as deputies of the NA.
