Ultraviolet radiation index stays high in HCMC

By T. Huy

Must read

HCMC – The ultraviolet radiation (UV) indexes in HCMC and elsewhere in southern Vietnam will pose a high risk of harm between 11:00 and 13:00 from February 13 to 15, according to the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center.

The weather forecast bulletins of the Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Center said temperatures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week ranged from the lowest level of 23-26 degrees Celsius to the highest of 31-34 degrees Celsius, while some places in the eastern region have temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius.

The high UV radiation indexes these days are harmful to health, with a forecast at 9.3 in HCMC, 8.2 in Can Tho City and 8.6 in Ca Mau Province.

HCMC and southeastern provinces usually see the highest temperatures in March and early April. Meanwhile, the southwestern provinces will witness the same temperature one month later, cited the Vietnam News Agency.

The weather forecast says the regions will experience high temperatures and sunny weather most of the time this year and face stronger UV radiation from the sunlight.

Temperatures in HCMC and the southeastern region will drop in the afternoon, but the maximum UV radiation indexes in the southern region will stay at high levels.
