HCMC – The United Kingdom (UK) Government has appointed TheCityUK, a financial and related professional services body, to support the HCMC authorities to develop the southern city into a regional financial and business center.
TheCityUK will work with the UK Government and the British Embassy in Hanoi to provide best practices and recommendations for the long-term growth and sustainable development of HCMC.
The agency plans to offer technical support and help create a favorable business climate in Vietnam, making it more appealing to global investors.
The effort is expected to bring mutual benefits through the exchange of ideas in terms of green finance, innovation and digital transformation and the net-zero transition, according to Miles Celic, chief executive officer of TheCityUK.
“As one of the world’s leading international financial centers, the UK is well placed to support Vietnam’s ambitions and provide technical expertise,” he added.
British Ambassador to Vietnam Iain Frew said the endeavor has significantly demonstrated strong ties between Vietnam and the UK.
It is part of efforts to further foster bilateral partnership and underline the 50-year diplomatic relations between the two nations this year.
