HCMC – The Ministry of Health has licensed the use of two new coronavirus test kits that are manufactured locally.
Among the nine Covid-19 test kits licensed by the ministry, as many as four have been made in Vietnam to date, Tuoi Tre newspaper reported.
Nguyen Minh Tuan, head of the Medical Equipment and Construction Department, under the ministry, noted that the made-in-Vietnam test kits licensed by the Ministry of Health will use the real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reactions and reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification methods for Covid-19 testing.
The two quick test kits and two other Vietnamese-made kits, which were put to use in early March, meet standards of quality and efficiency, stated the ministry.
As for the five imported test kits, before being employed, they were verified by the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and the Pasteur Institutes in Nha Trang City and HCMC, according to the Ministry of Health.
As of this morning, May 21, 35 days have passed in Vietnam with no new Covid-19 infections in the community. The country’s total number of confirmed cases stands at 324, with 264 patients having made a full recovery.
