HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap is striving to complete land clearance for the Cao Lanh-An Huu expressway project by mid-June so that construction work could start at the end of this month.
Some 92.3 hectares of cleared land have been handed over to the project management board, representing 91.3% of the land clearance target, the provincial government said in a statement.
Over 500 local households, or 95.9% of the total impacted by the project, had received a total of VND478 billion in compensation by late April.
Local authorities and the relevant agencies were committed to eliminating the remaining obstacles to carry out the project’s first phase on schedule.
In phase one, the Cao Lanh-An Huu Expressway project will span 27 kilometers inside Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province, and require a total of VND5,886 billion.
Once fully completed, the road will be one of the major expressways designed to enhance connectivity in the Mekong Delta by linking the eastern and western North-South expressway projects.
