HCMC – National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue held talks with the President of the National Council of Switzerland, Martin Candinas, in Hanoi today, June 28.
Candinas and his high-ranking delegation are in Vietnam for an official visit from June 27 to June 30 at the invitation of NA Chairman Hue.
During the talks, Hue proposed that Switzerland grant more scholarships and enhance cooperation among educational institutions in the two countries, as well as implement joint training programs in pharmaceuticals, mechanical engineering, tourism, finance, banking, and insurance.
He emphasized that Vietnam will create favorable conditions for foreign companies, including those from Switzerland, to do business in Vietnam.
Candinas said that Switzerland is keen on promoting investment, trade, and technology cooperation with Vietnam.
Candinas expressed Switzerland’s appreciation for Vietnam’s commitment made at the COP26 conference. He noted that both countries share common goals in sustainable development, so Switzerland is ready to work with Vietnam to achieve these objectives.
During the talks, both sides emphasized the importance of respecting international law, maintaining peace, and stability, as well as ensuring maritime and aviation safety. Any disputes should be resolved peacefully based on international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
