HCMC – Work has begun building three provincial roads in the northern province of Bac Ninh with a total length of nearly 20 kilometers and a combined cost of VND1,500 billion.
The provincial roads, specifically 295C and 285B, will connect Bac Ninh Province with the new National Highway 3, traversing through industrial zones. provincial road 277B will create a link between Ha Bac 2 Bridge and Beltway No. 4 in the Hanoi City region.
These new connections will improve traffic between the northeastern region of Bac Ninh Province, Hanoi City and the provinces of Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen.
Bac Ninh is the investor of these projects, with funding sourced from both the State and local budgets. The Government will provide VND900 billion, with the remainder sourced from provincial funding.
Site clearance is set to be completed within this year, preparing for project execution in 2024. The project is scheduled for completion within two years.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh underscored the importance of infrastructure development at an industrial province like Bac Ninh. He said that such projects enhance linkages within the province and strengthen inter-regional connectivity. They would also foster development space for industrial parks, urban and service areas, and improve local residents’ livelihoods.
The projects are also expected to contribute to transforming Bac Ninh into a satellite urban area of Hanoi, thereby reducing traffic, housing, and environmental pressures on the capital city.
Chinh said that priority should be given to site clearance and resettlement of affected households. Bac Ninh should directly allocate quarries providing construction materials to contractors and take responsibility for creating roads leading to the mines for logistical services.
The PM also urged provincial authorities and contractors to complete the projects by the end of 2024, a year earlier than planned.
