HCMC – Operation Smile Vietnam is collaborating with the HCMC National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology to undertake surgeries for 72 children with craniofacial defects from August 28 to 31. The surgeries are funded by the philanthropist community using MoMo platform.

Ninety-one children were medically screened at the HCMC National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology on August 28. Of them, 72 young individuals are slated to undergo surgery following a thorough review of their health conditions.

Children with complex medical conditions will be provided with specialized care and will undergo surgery within a suitable timeframe.

This endeavor aims to promote the self-confidence of children born with a cleft lip or palate  by giving them a chance to regain their smiles after successful surgery.

Since the launch of the charitable feature “Heo Dat MoMo” on its application in 2019, MoMo has become a strategic partner of Operation Smile Vietnam. Through the platform, benefactors can support the cost of surgery programs organized by Operation Smile Vietnam.

As of August, users and business partners of the Vietnamese fintech unicorn have joined hands to contribute to the successful surgery of 1,233 Vietnamese children.

From September to December, an average of 100 surgeries are planned to be performed each month as part of the Operation Smile Vietnam program, using donations collected via the MoMo app.

Nguyen Viet Phuong, country representative of Vietnam at Operation Smile, said MoMo is a key, long-term partner of Operation Smile, given that the fundraising campaigns facilitated by the MoMo platform have shown significant results.

Nguyen Hoanh Tien, senior vice president in charge of Marketing and Distribution Services at MoMo, said that even the smallest donation can have a significant impact when combined with others.

This collective effort has the power to bring smiles back to many children,” he added.
