HCMC – Businesses from the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap have explored potential partnerships with counterparts from Guangxi, China, with a focus on agricultural and fishery product trading in a recent seminar held in the province.
The seminar aimed to provide updates on Chinese regulations on imports.
Dong Thap is actively seeking to enhance its exports of agricultural and fishery products to the Chinese market, fulfilling commitments outlined in the memorandum of understanding for economic sector cooperation between Vietnam and China.
During the event, officials from Guangxi pledged to invest in building comprehensive infrastructure to facilitate trade and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese agricultural products exports.
The Asia-Africa Market Department under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, highlighted the pivotal role of Guangxi in fostering an extensive economic and trade relationship between Vietnam and China. This province serves as a crucial gateway for Vietnamese goods to access the vast Chinese market, added the department.
In the first half of the year, trade between Dong Thap and China reached US$126 million. Notably, the province’s exports, including fishery products, rice, shoes, and leather, contributed US$107 million to this figure.
