BIDV to issue 641 million shares to pay dividend

HCMC – The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (stock code BID) has announced to issue nearly 641.9 million BID shares to pay dividend to its existing shareholders at a ratio of 12.69%.

The share issue is expected to be made in the fourth quarter of this year.

Funding for this distribution will be sourced from the undistributed after-tax profit of the company in 2021. With the share issue, BIDV is expected to raise its charter capital from VND50.5 trillion to over VND57 trillion.

At the end of the second quarter this year, BIDV’s total consolidated assets exceeded VND2,120 trillion, maintaining its position as the largest bank in the market.

The lender recorded before-tax profit of VND13.8 trillion in the first half of the year, up 26% over the same period in 2022. Its after-tax profit reached VND11.1 trillion, up by 25.79% year-on-year.

Closing the trading session today, October 12, BID increased by 0.36% day-on-day to VND42,150 per share, with over one million shares changing hands.

With 242 gainers and 226 losers, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange inched up 0.8 points, or 0.07% versus yesterday’s session, at 1,151.61 points.

Trade volume totaled over 647.1 million shares worth VND14.4 trillion, up 19% in volume and 18% in value. Block deals contributed over VND570 billion to the total value.

VIC surged by 2.3% to VND46,500 per share, while TPB rose by 2,7% to VND17,200 per share, making it the most impressive gainer in the VN30 basket.

On the other hand, MWG advanced by a significant 1.8% versus yesterday’s session to VND48,400. Meanwhile, HPG declined by 1.5% to VND25,800 per share and took the lead by liquidity in the VN30 basket with over 22 million shares traded.

On the northern bourse, the HNX-Index added 1.44 points, or 0.61%, against yesterday’s session, at 238.44 points, with 83 advancers and 89 decliners. The total trading volume reached 96.6 million shares, with a value of over VND2 trillion.
