HCMC – After a four-year hiatus, the AISA Games, celebrating athletic excellence and solidarity among Australian International Schools (AIS) in various countries and territories, are scheduled to take place between November 16 and 18 in HCMC.

This year’s competition will be held on the AIS Saigon campus, with around 300 students and staff from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and Vietnam competing in soccer, basketball, touch rugby, netball and swimming.

The event is expected to provide a platform for athletes to engage in friendly competition and serve as an opportunity for schools to showcase their athletic abilities and dedication to sports.

Matthew Washer, director of Sport at AIS Saigon, said that the rules and conditions for sporting competitions at the games conform to the internationally recognized standards of professional federations.

He praised the caliber of the AISA athletes over the years, as exemplified by the talents who could subsequently accomplish success in international student competitions.

“There will be highs and lows, joy and disappointment, but above all, the enjoyment of playing the sports you train hard for and love,” added Washer.

Notably, the AISA Games finals, which are expected to eventually take place on November 18, will coincide with the Open Day of AIS Saigon, an event designed to introduce parents and children to the school’s core values, innovative curriculum, and its vibrant community.

Jon Standen, executive principal of AIS Saigon, said that hosting the games demonstrates the institution’s determination and commitment to create a school that is not only promoting academic activities but also encouraging students to enjoy their passions, including sports.

The Open Day will take place between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on the school campus in An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City. Parents may have the opportunity to learn about available scholarships and tuition discounts, such as 100% scholarships for students in the 7-11 years and discounts up to VND16.3 million.
