HCMC – HCMC is embarking on a project to raise the vertical clearances of Binh Phuoc 1 and Binh Trieu 1 bridges to a minimum of seven meters, facilitating waterway transportation along the Saigon River.
Work will start on the VND244-billion project this year and be completed by 2025.
The upgrade of Binh Phuoc 1 and Binh Trieu 1 bridges is part of the inland waterway infrastructure plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, as approved by the prime minister.
The project would help bolster waterway infrastructure and promote the development of inland waterway ports in HCMC, and Binh Duong and Tay Ninh provinces.
The funding will be sourced from the city’s budget, and the Roads Management Center under the HCMC Department of Transport will oversee the project.
The 760-meter-long Binh Phuoc 1 bridge on National Highway 1 connects District 12 with Thu Duc City. The 770-meter-long Binh Trieu 1 on National Highway 13 links Binh Thanh District with Thu Duc City.
