HCMC – Vietnam and China have signed 36 cooperation deals on various fields during China’s Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping’s ongoing state visit to Vietnam.
Vietnam’s Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping reviewed those cooperation documents yesterday, December 13, after their bilateral talks.
These agreements mark the comprehensive achievements reached by both sides during Xi’s December 12-13 visit to Vietnam. It also marked the highest number of cooperation documents ever signed during President Xi’s state visit to Vietnam.
Among the 36 agreements, four pertain to the political and diplomatic spheres, signed by the Party committees and Foreign Ministries of both countries. Another four focus on security and defense cooperation, addressing crime prevention, sea collaboration, and the legal sector.
Twenty-four other agreements involve significant government-level cooperation and the remaining four involve cooperation between localities of the two countries.
Notably, the two countries’ defense ministries signed a memorandum of joint patrol in the Gulf of Tonkin, while their public security ministries signed an agreement on crime prevention and an agreement on transfer of sentenced persons.
The two sides also signed deals on jointly building a bridge over the Red River connecting Bat Xat border area in Vietnam’s Lao Cai Province and Ba Sa border area of China’s Yunnan Province.
A memorandum of understanding (MOU) on strengthening the Vietnam-China railway cooperation and another on strengthening aid cooperation for railway development across the Vietnam-China border were also signed.
