HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to facilitating Hungarian goods’ access to the Vietnamese and ASEAN markets.

PM Chinh held talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and met Hungarian President Katalin Novak during his visit to Hungary from January 18 to 20.

He urged Hungary to simplify the entry of Vietnamese goods into the Hungarian market, particularly agricultural, forestry, and fishery products. He also called upon the European Commission (EC) to lift the illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) yellow card imposed on Vietnam.

The two heads of government participated in the Hungarian-Vietnamese Business Forum on January 19 local time.

The Vietnamese PM said Vietnam needed investment in sectors such as exports, consumption, digital economy, green economy, climate change, and circular economy.

Bilateral trade between the two countries has posted solid growth, surging from US$354 million in 2017 to US$1.2 billion in 2022. Vietnam’s exports to Hungary expanded by 37% annually during this period.

His visit to Hungary is expected to further strengthen the bilateral relationship and enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two nations.
