HCMC – The five-star cruise ship Costa Serena visited Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province yesterday, February 2, carrying nearly 1,100 passengers with the majority of them from Thailand.
The tourists visited popular attractions and tasted local seafoods before departing the island on the same day, the local media reported.
Nguyen Thi Bich Dieu, director of Dong Noi Phu Quoc Tourism as the tour partner, said, “Tourists enjoy exploring the local culture and cuisine of Phu Quoc.”
Bui Quoc Thai, director of the Kien Giang Tourism Department, said the visit by the cruise ship at the beginning of the year was a good sign.
Costa Serena is a Concordia-class cruise ship owned by Costa Crociere, an Italian cruise line.
On February 9, Phu Quoc is set to receive AIDAbella, a cruise ship operated by AIDA Cruises with about 2,100 passengers on board.
The island’s international passenger port, being developed at an estimated cost of VND1.6 trillion, is set to be operational this year.
