HCMC – The upland city of Dalat has become overwhelmed with an excessive number of tourists since the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet) began last Saturday .
Long lines of cars have been seen on the Prenn Pass on the way to Dalat City, reported the Thanh Nien news site (thanhnien.vn).
Despite heavy traffic, congestion has not been as severe as in previous years thanks to the recent expansion of the Prenn Pass to four lanes.
According to official reports, Dalat attracted around 153,000 visitors from February 8 to 12, up by a sharp 22.4% against the previous Tet. International tourist numbers also rose by 8% to 10,800.
Despite the influx of visitors, hotel room rates have marginally increased.
Dalat has organized various cultural events to lure tourists, including the Spring Flower Festival at the Dalat Flower Park and the Hot Air Balloon Festival at the Valley of Love.
