HCMC – The Ministry of Health today, October 2, reported 5,490 new Covid-19 cases, including 13 imported cases and 5,477 local transmissions in 40 cities and provinces, falling 1,464 cases day-on-day to the lowest level in the past 80 days.

HCMC recorded nearly half of the new local infections, at 2,723 cases, followed by Binh Duong with 1,517 cases and Dong Nai with 509 cases. These three localities saw their new Covid-19 cases drop by 947, 270 and 226 cases, respectively.

In addition, An Giang had 139 cases and Long An recorded 107 cases. Other cities and provinces reported less than 100 cases each.

The latest Covid cases have raised the country’s tally to 803,202, including 798,626 cases in the current fourth Covid-19 wave.

Of the total cases in the current wave, 659,759 patients have recovered from Covid-19, including 28,857 patients discharged from hospitals today.

The Ministry of Health also confirmed 164 more Covid-19 deaths, taking the total to 19,601. The new deaths included 123 in HCMC, 24 in Binh Duong, five each in Dong Nai and Long An, two in Kien Giang and one each in Quang Ngai, Tien Giang, An Giang, Binh Thuan and Can Tho.

In another development, the HCMC Department of Transport has sent a plan on the travel of laborers between HCMC and Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh and consulted with the four provinces over the plan.

Accordingly, enterprises will transport workers and experts from the four provinces to HCMC and vice versa. These workers and experts must have got at least one Covid-19 vaccine shot for a minimum of 14 days or should have recovered from the disease within six months and have a valid negative Covid-19 test certificate. They will undergo Covid-19 tests every seven days.

Laborers meeting these requirements can also use their personal vehicles to travel between HCMC and the four neighboring provinces to work.

They should use the VNEID or Y te HCM (HCM health) mobile apps to declare their destination, health condition and vaccination status. Or they must show documents proving that they meet the requirements.

Enterprises which are headquartered in HCMC must draw up plans to transport workers and experts and register the number plates of vehicles, routes and transport time with the HCMC Department of Transport through the authorities of industrial parks, export processing zones and hi-tech parks or the governments of Thu Duc City and districts to be granted identification certificates.

Meanwhile, enterprises which are headquartered in Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh will make registrations with their Departments of Transport.
