A sustainable return As France is gearing up for the Olympic stage a century after the Paris 1924 Summer Olympics, the focus shifts beyond athletic prowess to sustainability. The journey commenced with the inauguration of an athlete’s village on February 29, 2024, in northern Paris. This village, set to host 14,500 athletes during the Olympics starting on July 26, and another 9,000 during the subsequent Paralympics, will have a dual purpose. After the Games conclude, it will undergo transformation into an eco-friendly neighborhood, offering sustainable housing for 6,000 workers and residents.
