HCMC – HCMC today resumed work on the Tan Ky-Tan Quy Bridge in Binh Tan District after a six-year delay. The project is expected to be completed by the end of this year, significantly easing traffic congestion in the city’s southwestern gateway.
The investment format of the project was converted from build-operate-transfer (BOT) to public investment.
The bridge on Tan Ky-Tan Quy Street crosses the Tham Luong-Ben Cat canal and has a total length of 385 meters, with the bridge being 83 meters long. It features four lanes for vehicles, and sidewalks on both sides.
Initially approved by the city in 2017, construction began in early 2018 under a BOT model, with IDICO-IDI, a joint-stock company specializing in infrastructure development, as the investor.
By late 2018, the project was 70% complete but halted due to land clearance problems and conflicts with the National Assembly’s Resolution 437 which prohibits BOT projects from being developed on existing roads.
The project needs a total of VND491 billion and is scheduled to be opened to traffic by the end of this year.
