HCMC – Lien Khuong Airport in Lam Dong Province has been upgraded to international status, becoming the first international airport in the Central Highlands region.

The announcement was made on June 23 during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the government of Lam Dong.

Lien Khuong features a 3,250-meter runway, capable of handling medium-range aircraft such as the A320 and A321.

Looking ahead to 2030, plans are in place to develop Lien Khuong International Airport into a 4E-level airport, expanding its area to 340 hectares with a designed capacity to accommodate five million passengers annually.

By 2050, the airport’s area is projected to expand further to 487 hectares, with a capacity to handle seven million passengers per year.

Originally constructed in 1933, Lien Khuong is located approximately 30 kilometers from the center of Dalat City. Following numerous upgrades and expansions, the airport now accommodates over two million passengers annually, providing connections to different parts of Vietnam.
