HCMC – The labor demand in HCMC in the second half of this year is estimated to be between 153,000 and 161,500 workers, primarily in the trade and service sectors, according to the Center of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information HCMC (FALMI).

The trade and service sectors alone need to hire 102,600 to 108,000 people, accounting for 66.89% of the total labor demand. Meanwhile, the industrial and construction sectors will need 50,700 to 53,300 new employees, making up 33.03% of the demand.

FALMI data indicates a significant need for skilled labor, with 134,600 to 141,600 skilled workers required, representing 87.7% of the total demand. Specifically, 19.54% of the demand is for those holding university degrees, 23.16% for those having college diplomas, and 45% for those having lower or medium-level education.

The demand for unskilled labor is estimated at around 19,800 people, which is 12.3% of the total demand.

The economic performance in HCMC during the first half of the year showed positive signs, especially in the technology, services, tourism, and real estate sectors. This growth has led to an increase in hiring demand and a decrease in job losses compared to the same period last year.

However, FALMI’s survey showed that many businesses are struggling with hiring. Out of 654 businesses surveyed, 154 reported difficulties in finding workers, particularly in the wholesale and retail sectors, manufacturing, administrative activities, and support services.
