HCMC – The government of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province has imposed a fine of VND1.2 billion on Kbec Vina Co., Ltd., a South Korean firm in Phu My Town, for illegal wastewater discharge into the environment, according to local media reports.

The firm was found to have improperly operated its waste treatment facilities and constructed them without adhering to the permit. The discharged wastewater contained pollutants exceeding technical standards by more than tenfold.

Kbec Vina specializes in the treatment and disposal of waste, including the processing of industrial waste and hazardous materials.

In addition to the VND1.2 billion fine, the firm was required to pay over VND67.5 million for sample analysis to the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province Center for Natural Resources and Environment Monitoring.

In March 2023, the company received a fine of nearly VND1.3 billion for violating environmental permit regulations and releasing wastewater with pollutant levels exceeding technical standards.

Furthermore, the provincial government suspended Kbec Vina’s discharge of treated wastewater into the environment for 4.5 months, mandating the company to transfer all wastewater to an authorized facility for processing.

On September 22, 2023, the firm was fined an additional VND1.5 billion for illegal wastewater discharge.
