HCMC – Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen in Hanoi on July 26, as the latter was leading a high-level delegation to attend the State funeral for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Man expressed Vietnam’s gratitude for Cambodia’s condolences and the presence of the delegation. He emphasized the special bond between President Hun Sen and the late Party General Secretary, who was laid to rest today at the Mai Dich Cemetery in Hanoi City.
The Vietnamese leader praised President Hun Sen’s role in strengthening Vietnam-Cambodia ties and expressed confidence in the next generation of Cambodian leaders to further deepen the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
Man underscored the implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, including the strong ties between the two countries’ legislatures.
Expressing his sorrow at the passing of General Secretary Trong, President Hun Sen described the Party chief as a key figure in the development of Vietnam-Cambodia relations.
The Cambodian Senate President said it is important to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas and called for stronger legislative ties between the two countries.
