FV Hospital and O2 Healthcare Group launch Vietnam’s first Thoracic Surgery Center

HCMC – The signing ceremony to establish the first regional Thoracic Surgery Center in Vietnam between FV Hospital, a member of Thomson Medical Group, and Singapore’s O2 Healthcare Group, a member of OUE Healthcare Limited, took place this morning, August 15.

The establishment of the FV Thoracic Surgery Center is set to significantly improve lung cancer treatment success rates in Vietnam. This collaboration between FV Hospital and O2 Healthcare Group will bring leading Singaporean specialists to FV Hospital, offering advanced diagnostic and treatment options for lung cancer and complex thoracic conditions at accessible prices for Vietnamese patients.

Dr. Su Jang Wen, a cardiothoracic surgeon and lung cancer specialist from O2 Healthcare Group, will lead treatments at the new center. Trained in the U.S., Dr. Su has performed over 7,000 thoracic surgeries since 2007, with 95% using video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). Notably, Dr Su has maintained a record of zero post-operative mortality in elective surgeries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. Melvin Heng, CEO of Thomson Medical Group, stated that this collaboration brings top specialists from Singapore to provide treatment at FV Hospital, addressing complex conditions in areas such as TAVR cardiac interventions, electrophysiology, vascular surgery, spinal surgery, neurosurgery, pelvic surgery, urological cancer, head and neck surgery, liver treatment, oncology, and general surgery.

The new Thoracic Surgery Center will provide diagnostic and surgical treatment services for all thoracic conditions, including lung cancer and mediastinal tumours, said Dr. Jean-Marcel Guillon, CEO of FV Hospital. Additionally, the center will collaborate with lung specialists in Vietnam to conduct early lung cancer screenings.
