Vietnam, UAE look to comprehensive economic partnership

HCMC – Vietnam and the UAE are committed to promoting comprehensive cooperation across various sectors, with a particular focus on advancing bilateral relations and expediting negotiations for the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).

On the afternoon of August 26, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, alongside leaders of major UAE corporations.

The PM proposed enhancing cooperation in energy, oil, and gas, as well as strengthening collaboration in developing the Halal food industry. He also called for UAE support in establishing and developing an international financial center in HCMC.

Minister Zeyoudi agreed with the PM’s proposals on promoting cooperation in these areas. Regarding the CEPA negotiations, he mentioned that he is actively working with Vietnamese agencies to complete the necessary legal procedures to finalize and sign the agreement soon.

Bilateral trade between Vietnam and the UAE in the first seven months of this year reached an estimated US$4 billion, a 47% year-on-year increase.
