HCMC – Gojek will end its motorbike ride-hailing (GoRide), food delivery (GoFood) and courier (GoSend) services in Vietnam on September 16, after six years of operations in the country, according to local media reports.
Gojek’s announcement stated that the decision was made as part of a long-term growth strategy set by its parent company, GoTo Group, Indonesia’s largest technology company.
The firm will support affected driver-partners and restaurant partners during the transition process, it said.
Following Gojek’s exit from Vietnam, the ride-hailing market in the country will be dominated by three firms: Grab, Be and Xanh SM, with Grab remaining the market leader.
Gojek entered the Vietnamese market in 2018 under the brand GoViet. In 2020, GoViet was renamed as Gojek and has operated under that name since then.
Before Gojek, two major brands have ended their operations in Vietnam. The American ride-hailing company Uber withdrew in early 2018, and the South Korean food delivery app Baemin ceased services at the end of 2023.
