HCMC – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has urged enhanced market surveillance in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, focusing particularly on areas most affected by the powerful storm, according to local media reports.

The ministry has directed local authorities to ramp up inspections to stabilize the market. Essential goods will be closely monitored to prevent hoarding and price gouging.

The Vietnam Directorate of Market Surveillance will regularly report on price fluctuations, particularly for essential items impacted by the storm.

Any violations, including attempts to exploit the situation for profit, will be met with penalties.

Local market management departments are required to maintain round-the-clock monitoring and report any unusual market changes.

They must also ensure a balance between supply and demand and prevent speculation, especially concerning materials needed for post-storm recovery efforts.
