Viettel Post sets up VND136-billion subsidiary in Laos

HCMC – Viettel Post Joint Stock Corporation (HOSE: VTP) has announced the establishment of a new subsidiary in Laos with total capital of over VND136 billion.

The new subsidiary, Viettel Post Laos Company, will focus on cross-border logistics and transport. It will handle services including delivery, warehousing, domestic and international cargo transport, e-commerce, and import-export operations.

Viettel Post reported total revenue of VND9.6 trillion in the first half of this year, a slight decline from the previous year. Its net profit in this period dropped by 13% year-on-year to VND152 billion.

For the full year 2024, Viettel Post looks to book VND13.19 trillion in revenue and VND370 billion in net profit.

Closing the trading session today, September 9, VTP edged down by 1.33% to VND74,200 per share, with 339,900 shares traded.

The VN-Index lost 6.23 points, or 0.49%, to close at 1,267.73 on Monday, with 104 stocks gaining and 282 others dipping on the Hochiminh Stock Exchange.

Trading volume reached 497.5 million shares worth VND11.7 trillion, down by 21.9% in volume and 24.5% in value over the previous session. Block deals accounted for 63.7 million shares valued at nearly VND1.4 trillion.

In the VN30 basket, which groups the 30 largest-cap stocks, only HPG, GAS and SSB made gains, with each rising less than 1%. With 23 decliners, the VN30-Index shed 8.24 points, or 0.63%, to 1,307.15 points.

VHM and VIC were the main drags on the VN-Index, collectively taking away nearly two points, with a respective decline of 2.13% and 2.05%.

Steel stocks remained strong, with HPG rising 0.8% and trading nearly 32.65 million shares, the highest volume on the southern bourse. HSG rose by 2.3%, with 15 million shares traded, and NKG gained 2.6% with 4.4 million shares transacted.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index dropped 1.19 points, or 0.51%, to 233.46 points, with 45 winners and 90 losers. Trading volume on the northern bourse reached 52 million shares worth a total of VND937.7 billion.
