HCMC — Households whose dairy cows died after receiving the NAVET-LPVAC vaccine will be compensated starting September 20.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed that the NAVET-LPVAC vaccine, provided by Navetco Central Veterinary Medicine Joint Stock Company (Navetco), is linked to an outbreak of diarrhea among cattle in Lam Dong Province. Navetco has acknowledged responsibility for the adverse effects and committed to compensating affected farmers.
Lam Dong Province has instructed Navetco to identify affected farms and coordinate with local authorities to finalize compensation plans by September 20. Following this, compensation for the affected livestock farmers will be processed in coordination with local officials.
The NAVET-LPVAC vaccine, administered from July 7, 2024, was intended to treat lumpy skin disease in dairy cattle.
However, as of September 9, 2024, over 6,300 cows from 352 households across 20 communes in Duc Trong, Don Duong, Lam Ha, Di Linh, and Bao Loc City fell ill. Of these, 470 cows from 195 households have died. While 5,619 cows have recovered, 242 are still suffering from the disease.
