HCMC – The Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) sold more than 43,000 tickets for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday on the ticket launch date yesterday.

From 8 a.m. on October 6, VNR opened ticket sales for all customers at railway stations, the official website, hotline, and mobile app.

This year, VNR discontinues the “reserve now, pay later” feature, instead allowing buyers 30 minutes to make payment after booking tickets. Under the new policy, each passenger can purchase a maximum of 10 tickets for outgoing trips and another 10 tickets for return trips.

Statistics show after 24 hours, more than 43,000 Tet train tickets have been sold, generating revenue of nearly VND77 billion.

The train schedule for Tet holiday is expected to be from January 15 to February 16, meaning a fortnight either side of the New Year Day that falls on January 29. During this period, there will be 22 pairs of trains operating each day, including nine pairs of Thong Nhat trains between Saigon and Hanoi and 13 pairs of trains running on shorter routes.
