HCMC – European universities are seeing strong interest from Vietnamese students, with nearly 5,000 registering for European Education Week events that begin in HCMC today, October 19.

The week-long program, organized by the European Union (EU) Delegation and EU member state embassies, highlights a range of study opportunities across Europe.

Nearly 60 universities from various EU countries are participating, offering information about programs and scholarships in diverse academic fields and levels.

This year’s event is the first European Education Fair in Vietnam to feature a discussion with European businesses operating locally. The session will focus on skills development and career opportunities for Vietnamese students returning from studies in Europe.

A key highlight is the inaugural Erasmus+ Vietnam Day, providing details about the EU’s flagship student exchange program. The event aims to foster collaboration between Vietnamese and European universities, encouraging knowledge sharing and potential partnerships.

EU Ambassador to Vietnam Julien Guerrier emphasized the importance of the EU-Vietnam partnership in education for developing high-quality skills and qualifications needed to tackle global challenges.

Vietnam is a leading beneficiary of the EU’s higher education capacity-building program in Asia, having received over 66 million euros in funding. Between 2015 and 2023, over 3,400 Vietnamese students and educators participated in Erasmus+ exchange programs.

In Hanoi, the European Education Fair will be held on October 20, with the Erasmus+ Vietnam Day scheduled for October 22-23.
