HCMC – The Standard Chartered Hanoi Marathon Heritage Race 2024 is set to be the largest edition yet, with over 18,000 runners from 55 countries and territories expected to participate in November.

This year’s event, part of the global Standard Chartered Marathon series, has seen a 150% increase in registrations compared to last year.

The marathon course, certified by the Association of International Marathon and Distance Races (AIMS), will take runners through Hanoi’s historic Old Quarter and past iconic landmarks, including the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ba Dinh Square.

Organizing an event for over 18,000 runners is a major challenge, said Nguyen Tri, CEO of DHA Vietnam, the event’s organizer. “We have worked closely with local authorities to design a course that highlights Hanoi’s heritage while ensuring traffic flow and safety.”

The organizers have partnered with Bach Mai Hospital to provide medical support and introduced various community engagement activities. These include a “CEO Run” to raise funds for charity and a shoe donation campaign.

Standard Chartered Bank, the title sponsor, is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle and supporting community development in Vietnam. “We are proud to be part of this event, which celebrates Hanoi’s diversity and heritage,” said Trinh Nhu Quynh, head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered Vietnam.
