The “Connecting Love” scholarships

The morning sun broke through the clouds as Dao Thi Hoa, a rubber tapper from Minh Thanh Commune, Dau Tieng District, prepared breakfast for the family. A sense of joy filled her heart as she realized today was different: She would be taking her son to Thuan An City to receive a scholarship.

The mother and her sixth-grade son, Hung, arrived early at the Thuan An Youth Center. Hoa said Hung had suffered a childhood accident that left him with limited mobility. Their family, with Hoa as a rubber tapper and her husband as a construction worker, often struggles to cover living expenses, medical costs, and tuition fees. This scholarship is Hung’s first.

“We are incredibly grateful to the benefactors,” Hoa said. “The scholarship will not only cover tuition fees but also boost Hung’s confidence, enabling him to overcome challenges and continue his studies.”

Huynh Thi Hoa, the mother of another sixth-grader, B.D.H.H., from Thuan Giao Secondary School, struggled to hold back tears. She and her husband, with five children and an ailing mother-in-law to care for, struggle to make ends meet with his meager income.

H. has been granted installment plans for her tuition payments due to financial constraints. Despite many challenges, including her entire family living together in a single rented room in the city, H. has managed to earn the title of an excellent student year after year.

“The scholarship is not only financial support but also a source of encouragement for my child to overcome challenges in both studies and life,” stated Hoa.

D.T.Q., a seventh-grade student at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School, said her family’s financial situation is challenging. Her father, a motorbike taxi driver, and her mother, an office clerk, struggle to cover the rising costs of education for two children. The increasing daily expenses have also put a strain on their limited income.

Q. said she feels fortunate to have both her parents despite financial difficulties. She was overjoyed to be among the 200 students in Thuan An City selected for the scholarships.
“This scholarship is a big help to my family and friends. We are determined to study hard and be kind to show our gratitude to our teachers, the local government, and the sponsors,” said D.T.Q.

Commitments to supporting student’s education

Tran Thi Diem Trinh, secretary of the Binh Duong Province Youth Union, said as the Vietnamese saying goes, “Children, like buds on a branch. Knowing how to eat, sleep, and study; that’s being well-mannered.” The saying encourages people to support children, allowing them to enjoy a fulfilling childhood and pursue their dreams.

Unfortunately, not all children have the privilege of such a simple existence. Many, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, face substantial challenges, including poverty, illness, and limited access to education.

“In collaboration with Tan Hiep Phat, the scholarship program aims to encourage and support students facing difficulties. By alleviating financial burdens, it motivates them to stay in school and realize their full potential,” she added.

Nguyen Van Tu, COO of Tan Hiep Phat, underscored the company’s dedication to social responsibility, rooted in a foundation of seven core values that have guided the company for three decades. Aligned with its century-long goal of human development, the company places a strong emphasis on the well-being of children.

Tan Hiep Phat has demonstrated its commitment to education and community welfare by donating hundreds of scholarships and thousands of gifts to students during annual holidays and festivals. The company also actively supports and sponsors dozens of orphanages, providing essential care and resources to disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

Through these efforts, Tan Hiep Phat aspires to work closely with the Binh Duong provincial government to enhance the quality of life for its residents, especially children.

Tu emphasized that fostering resilience, academic excellence, and a strong desire for a brighter future is a shared responsibility of families, students, and society as a whole.

He expressed deep gratitude to the local government for its unwavering support, which has been instrumental in Tan Hiep Phat’s transformation into a leading beverage company that caters to the preferences of millions of consumers. As a testament to this appreciation, the company actively engages in community activities in Binh Duong Province.

Encouraging the scholarship recipients, Tu urged them to embrace self-confidence, maintain their unwavering spirit, and strive to achieve their aspirations. He further emphasized the importance of giving back to the community and helping others whenever possible.

Tan Hiep Phat’s “Connecting Love – Supporting Steps to School” scholarship program annually supports disadvantaged students in Binh Duong, Hau Giang, Quang Nam, and Ha Nam provinces.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the company has plans to award 800 scholarships this year. Each scholarship is worth VND1 million and includes a pack of its Number 1 Soya Calcium Soy Milk products.

The recent scholarship ceremony in Binh Duong was the second phase of the program. Two hundred scholarships were previously awarded to students in Hau Giang Province on October 4.

Upcoming events will see 200 scholarships distributed in Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My districts in Quang Nam Province, followed by the final 200 in Ha Nam Province.
