HCMC – The Party Central Committee will meet in mid-February next year, followed by an extraordinary session of the National Assembly at the end of the same month, to finalize plans for streamlining the political system.

Le Minh Hung, head of the Organization Commission of the Party Central Committee (PCC), signed an official document on December 5 detailing tasks related to Resolution 18 on the political system restructuring.

Relevant Party committees, organizations, agencies, and units have been directed to immediately implement the necessary steps in line with plans approved by the Party Central Committee and the Politburo. Most tasks are expected to be completed by the end of December.

Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government-affiliated bodies are required to submit proposals to the Politburo and the Secretariat for approval by December 31.

The activities of VNews, VOVTV, and VTC Television will be discontinued, with their functions and tasks transferred to Vietnam Television (VTV). The restructuring of media organizations under various ministries and sectors must also be completed by January 15, 2025.

National Assembly committees must submit their proposals to the Politburo and Secretariat by December 31. Regulations on restructuring and streamlining the apparatus will be issued by the National Assembly Standing Committee.

Quoc Hoi TV station under the National Assembly will cease operations, with its responsibilities transferred to VTV by the same deadline.

For organizations such as the Vietnam Fatherland Front, political and social associations, the Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and mass associations, affiliated press agencies and magazines will be reorganized, with non-essential publications merged or terminated.

The proposals for streamlining the political system will be reviewed by the Party Central Committee in mid-February 2025, with final decisions to follow during the extraordinary session of the National Assembly at the end of the month.

This timeline represents a one-month acceleration from the original plan, which scheduled the Party Central Committee’s review for mid-March.
