HCMC – The 10th HCMC People’s Council convened its 20th session today, December 9, outlining strategies to accelerate economic and social development in 2025.
The city has reported strong economic performance this year, with gross regional domestic product (GRDP) projected to expand by around 7.17%.
Tax revenue has exceeded VND502 trillion, contributing 27% to the nation’s total, while exports have reached US$46.9 billion, up by 10.4% year-on-year.
“These achievements have bolstered public confidence in the city’s leadership,” said Nguyen Thi Le, chairwoman of the council.
Still, HCMC officials noted that there is still room for improvement. The city also acknowledged shortcomings in meeting targets for economic growth, healthcare infrastructure, and fire safety.
Nguyen Van Nen, secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, underscored the need to address these challenges and identify new growth opportunities. He urged city officials to accelerate the implementation of key infrastructure projects.
During the three-day meeting, the council will discuss and approve adjustments to the city’s development plan for 2025, laying the groundwork for the 2030-2045 period.
Nen stressed the importance of setting ambitious goals and maintaining a strong work ethic to achieve the city’s full potential.
