HCMC – Vietnam’s tourism sector has earned around VND840 trillion this year, up by 23% year-on-year, showed data provided at a conference on culture, sports, and tourism today, December 18.
International tourist arrivals have soared by 38.9% to 17.5 million and domestic traveler numbers have edged up by 1.6% to 110 million.
South Korea has emerged as the top source market with 4.1 million visitors.
Other key markets included China, Taiwan, Japan, India, Malaysia, the U.S., Australia, and Cambodia. Among European countries, the UK led with over 279,000 visitors, followed by France, Germany, and Russia.
For 2025, the tourism industry aims to attract 22-23 million international visitors and 120-130 million domestic travelers.
To achieve these targets, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism outlined several strategies at the conference. A key initiative is the establishment of a Vietnam Tourism Promotion Office in Laos and other countries.
The ministry also plans to expand sea and land-based tourism routes and continue implementing the green tourism action program for 2023-2025, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
In terms of promotion, the tourism sector will focus on innovative communication campaigns to support the rapid, comprehensive, and sustainable growth of Vietnam’s tourism industry.
